The steps

Enter the recipient's number
A ten-digit French mobile number starting with 06 or 07. You do not need to know their operator: routing is worked out automatically.

Write your message
You have 160 characters. The counter under the field shows what is left as you type, and accents are converted automatically so you stay within the limit.

Wait out the safety delay
A 60-second countdown runs before confirmation becomes possible. It limits automated sending and gives you time to reread your message.

Confirm the send
The confirm button unlocks when the countdown ends. Once clicked, the message goes to the gateway and usually arrives within seconds.

Worth knowing

•Check the number before confirming: a sent SMS cannot be recalled.
•Emoji switch the message to UCS-2 encoding and cut the limit to 70 characters.
•The 60-second delay is counted server-side: reloading the page will not speed it up.
