Opt-out is the ability to unsubscribe from a mailing list, expressed in SMS by the word "STOP".
In detail
Opt-out is the counterpart of opt-in: at any time, a person must be able to stop receiving messages, simply and free of charge.
In SMS this takes the form of an unsubscribe notice — most often "STOP" followed by a short code. The request must be honoured without delay, and the notice is mandatory in any prospecting message.
