I received no reply

The reply does not arrive where you expect it.

All troubleshooting pages

This is the most frequent question, and it rests on one simple misunderstanding: the message leaves from our gateway's number, not yours. The recipient's reply therefore comes back to the gateway, and appears on a public page — never on your phone.

The causes, from most to least common

  1. 1

The reply reached the gateway, not you

The recipient replies to the number they can see, the gateway's. Your own number was never passed on, and the form never asked for it.

  2. 2

The recipient did not know who was writing

With no signature in the text, they received a message from an unknown number and simply did not reply.

  3. 3

The reply is not shown yet

The received-messages list is cached for a few minutes: a very recent reply may not appear immediately.

  4. 4

    The recipient replied elsewhere

If they know you, they may have answered through another channel rather than the number shown.

What to do

  1. 1

    Check the received-messages page

Replies that reached the gateway are listed there, newest first.

  2. 2

    Filter by the recipient's number

The side filter shows only messages coming from the number you contacted.

  3. 3

    Sign your next messages

Add your first name to the text: without it, the recipient has no idea who is writing.

  4. 4

Give your number for a private exchange

Replies received on the gateway are public. For a confidential conversation, put your own number in the message.

Frequently asked questions

Are replies private?+

No. Messages received on the gateway number are published publicly: never exchange sensitive information there.

Can I receive replies on my phone?+

No. The service does not know your number and so cannot forward anything; that is the trade-off of sending without sign-up.
