How to read the reply to an SMS
Replies land on a shared, public number.
Because the message leaves from our gateway's number, a reply from the recipient comes back there — not to your phone. Those inbound messages are shown on the received-messages page, which is public and readable by anyone. That is the trade-off of a free service with no sign-up: a private inbox is not possible without an account.
The steps
- 1
Send your message and note the recipient's number
That number is how you will find their reply among the inbound messages.
- 2
Open the received-messages page
It lists the messages that arrived on the gateway number, newest first.
- 3
Filter by number
The side filter shows only messages from a given number. Clicking a message card opens the same view.
- 4
Wait a moment if nothing shows yet
The counters and the list refresh regularly. A reply just sent may take a short while to appear.
Worth knowing
- •Numbers are partly masked on screen, but the message content itself is public.
- •Warn your recipient that their reply will be publicly visible if they answer the number shown.
- •For a private exchange, put your own number in the message text and continue the conversation elsewhere.

Are those replies private?+
